Galleria Paola Verrengia presents the first solo exhibition in Salerno by artist Gioacchino Pontrelli, titled Un frammento dilatato del tempo, curated by Antonello Tolve.
Pontrelli, born in Salerno in 1966, was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he currently lives and works. After a long hiatus, he returns to a familiar place where memories and nostalgia resurface.
The choice of the exhibition’s title refers to the construction of the narrative space in which “each fragment generates a multitude of other fragments” (C. Casorati), leading us on a journey without a beginning or an end, where the canvas contains countless levels of interpretation.
The exhibition project set up in the Gallery presents a series of works created between 2010 and 2023, where the common thread is the use of color, through which Pontrelli creates “fluid, noble, and mobile atmospheres that transport us into a varied and memorable world” (A. Tolve).
