Galleria Paola Verrengia is pleased to announce the exhibition Là dove il sentiero si perde by Maria Elisabetta Novello, curated by Renata Caragliano and Stella Cervasio. The artist will be present.

The exhibition project by M. E. Novello (Vicenza, 1974) Là dove il sentiero si perde represents for the artist «the experience of my passing from one space to another. Instants suspended in a place of abstraction far from the world, where vertigo begins and the past is lost». The exhibition is presented with the text Il fiore consolatore del deserto, by R. Caragliano and S. Cervasio, which tells of «performative explorations in which Novello acts by looking at and taking only what silently accumulates and is transformed into a metaphorical image of the fugacity of memory in present».

The works of M. E. Novello, an artist of great talent, present in numerous public and private collections, come from an ispection of the artist on the earth and ashes of Vesuvius on a day in April 2024: «thus were born a series of works that paradoxically draw breath from that Nature that only in appearance can be defined as sterile, dead, dry. The experience, in fact, of immerging myself in volcanic soil led me to look even deeper into Nature, its adaptation and its form of Intelligence» (M. E. Novello).

The artist’s poetic expresses itself with impalpable materials, ash, charcoal and dust, which preserve traces of reality and are transformed through “an act of consumption and regeneration at the same time”, thus are born the Paesaggi, contained in plexiglass and ash cases with inside the earth and dust of Vesuvius with fragments of ginestra, a “resilient flower”.
